Shopping, Pottery, & Painting with Aunty One-L

The kids and I decided to head out to visit Aunty One-L to do some fun things before school starts.  The kids really wanted to hang out with Aunty One -L and I had promised a day trip there before the summer was over, so off we went.  We left in the afternoon and started on our road trip to visit Michele and Andy.  When we first got there we decided to order food "IN" that evening because the kids were a tad hyper after being cooped in the car for about two hours.  We ordered Chinese food in and then we sat and watched Bonnie Boo Boo and Toddlers in Tiaras with the kids until we all got too tired.  Then we headed up to our beds and turned in for the night, knowing we had a great busy day ahead of us the next day.  Aunty One-L had a whole lot of things planned for our day. :)
When we awoke the next day we started to the mall first  We had intentions to shop at one store as we were  searching for a dress for the rehearsal dinner and the upcoming bridal shower.  However, needless to say, with two woman shoppers and two kids shoppers we didn't all see eye to eye.  At some points we separated and one went with Aunty One-L and the other went with myself.  This did seem to work better for awhile.  Ava did really enjoy shopping for herself and she chose a dress that she bought for the rehearsal dinner and she was so proud that she carried her bag the entire time. After a few hours of shopping and looking around, we found the dress we were looking for and we were ready to head to our next adventure.  We got some pizza and then headed to downtown Annapolis for a fun filled pirate ship adventure cruise. Here we are in the parking garage before heading into the mall.  Then I have the other picture of Ava holding her new and exciting purchase in bag.
So after our very long but successful adventure to the mall, we headed off to find more entertaining adventures for the kiddos.  We found out the pirate cruise was booked until the last one, so we had a time restraint.  Aunty One-L decided to take the kiddos and treat them to a special pottery painting store where they each picked out an item to paint and decorate.  Then you leave it there to be fired in the kiln and then pick it up a week later. This was most def. Ava's favorite part of the day!  We have not seen the finished results yet, but it was a fun experience.  Michele made a mug for her fiance and she did  a fab job.  The kids and I had our own little adventure in the bathroom and it was rather embarrassing but we survived and then left as quickly as possible.
Okay, so we had mentioned early in the morning to the kids that we may be going on a pirate ship adventure cruise.  This was ALL Christian talked about all day.  If he wasn't listening all you had to do was threaten the Pirate Cruise and he would shape up.  SO we had to take him on the cruise before the day was over or he would be crushed.  The cruise was actually so much fun, I would go again.  I wish I had known about this sort of thing when I was a teen, I would have worked on one of these things.  So much fun!
When we first arrived, the kids were already excited.  After we paid and used the bathrooms, we were to go out on the balcony and get our TATTOOS on. . which was face paint on the arm or face.  Christian got a mustache and something on his arm too. Ava got a Mermaid painted on her arm.  Then we bought them each an eye patch so they looked more the part and they used the costumes out of the big costume chest to finish dressing in the pirate attire.  After they looked the part, they were gathered over into a huddle and the leader was telling them what was about to happen. She asked them if anyone knew how to talk like a pirate. There was a huge group of kids and they were all shaking their heads no and all of a sudden you hear this loud little voice say, "YES!" in a funny deep sort of piratey voice.  Yup, it was Christian.  Michele and I got a laugh out of that one.
Once aboard, the young pirates were informed of the rules.  Then at sea aboard their pirate ship they were given a treasure map to find their sunken treasure. A message in a bottle floated by and the children discovered that Pirate Pete, the smelliest most rotten pirate on the seven seas, was lurking nearby. He had something that our crew was told we needed.  Off the pirates went into battle with water cannons! The ships Name was Sea Gypsy and the kids did end up defeating Pirate Pete and finding the treasure and the pirates drink.  They even went over the pirate lingo and how pirates talk, they had secret pow wows and lots of heaving and hoeing.  Christian was made a guardian of one of the keys that later he found went to the sunken treasure chest.  Then they each got to grab one handful of the treasure to take home with them.  The best part was the way that Christian really thought it was all real.  They were really defeating a bad rotten pirate and they were really searching for the treasure and actually found it.  They had to put the battle flag up when they went into battle and he was right up front helping to get the flag up on the ship.  The look on his face the entire time was amazing and at one point, yup, you got it.  I got emotional.  Surprised?  I was just so moved by how real it all was to him.  He enjoyed it so much.

And after a VERY FUN DAY of Adventures. . . .we were heading home to Chambersburg. I am pretty sure no one was happier the moment we left to head home than Bailey and Max themselves.  I think they had pretty much had their fill of hiding from the kids in the house.
